Welcome to Wairewa – the home of farming couple Anne and Philip Munro.

Farming is our life. As passionate ambassadors for farming in New Zealand, we are united in our drive and passion to put our best foot forward at all times and achieve economic and environmental sustainability in today’s agricultural climate.

Wairewa is a 1037ha hill country property that runs a diversity of livestock – currently 3500 Romney-cross sheep, 240 breeding cows, 60 goats and 345 grazing dairy stock.

We take great pride in the quality of our livestock, with a focus on carcass yields and producing stock that deliver what the discerning customer desires. This is demonstrated by our selection in the CMP Tesco supply programme. We are consistently placed among the top 10 performers within this group and were recently upgraded to the Premier Waitrose programme.

Our long-term goal is to build relationships and strong links from producer to consumer – and to reinforce the viability of farming so it is possible for future generations to participate in farm ownership.

OUR FAMILY
We both come from a long lineage of farmers, which has instilled in us a passion for the way of life that we enjoy today. We have farmed together for 32 years and raised two children, Olivia and Simon, at Wairewa.

Olivia is now 23 and works in hospitality management in the South Canterbury region. Sadly, Simon lost the struggle with cancer 16 years ago. This major loss influenced our approach to life – humbling us and giving us a clearer perspective on what really matters.
